Adopt-a-Highway

Well, our sign is finally up, and the safety materials, signs, vests, and bags will be delivered this week, so we need to plan on picking up trash on our short strip of Hwy 25 before or after the June 27th meeting.  The only rules they really have are that no persons under age 15 may pickup unattended, and ages 12-15 are permitted with a parent or guardian assisting them.  Please keep this in mind if you are considering bringing chilluns to the next meeting.  I have a 5x8 trailer that we can use for consolidation of the bags, but we may need another small trailer or pickup bed to use as well.

This is a great opportunity for us to show the surrounding community that we do more than just mud ride and guzzle gas.  Looking forward to having a large membership showing to help out.  Bring family members, friends, whoever, as long as they meet the age requirements.  The more bodies we have, the quicker it will go.  More info will be posted here as the meeting draws closer.

Also have a 5x8 and live just around the corner from the "strip".   Probably one following a group down each side would be good.
It does go down to HWY 471. Correct?
Also, are we doing the center median?

I'll have to double check the paperwork, but I think they referenced a smaller street than 471 as the stop point.  I thought one on each side would be good, as well.  We will do the median and both sides of the hwy.

Everyone don't forget to show for the meeting this Sunday and plan on staying a little after to pick up trash for our Adopt-a-Highway program contribution.  We will be picking up trash along Highway 25 from Vine Street moving Northeast 2 miles to the crossover at the tractor dealership (I think it's the last one before the 471 interchange.  Any other questions about this, see the first post in this thread or pm me.  Remember, the more people we have to help, the less time we have in the scorching heat!!

My son is getting baptized today so I may be late for the meeting.  David will head it up untill i get there.  The more the people that help, the faster we can get to Wards.  Would be great to have enough to start at each end and meet in the middle.

I would like to thank the 12 or 13 of us that braved the surface of the sun like temps to get this done yesterday.  It wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be but it sure was friggen hot out there. 

This was our first cleanup and we kind of went into it blind.  There are things we will do next time to streamline the operational aspect of it and to make it a little more confortable for everyone.  Thanks again guys, truely hardcore commitment.  I found a metal naked lady hood ornamant, Oz found a clevis mount hitch receiver, David found a 6 pack of beer, Will found a dead cat, and Rouge almost found his death.
