Brandon Christmas Parade
« on: October 08, 2015, 11:12:56 AM »

The date for the Brandon Christmas Parade has been set for Dec. 5 this year. I am suggesting that we have a float this year instead of individual Jeeps. They are charging an entry fee per vehicle/float. I'm not willing to fork out $25 in addition to buying candy. What is everyone's thoughts.

Parade Fee's for the City of Brandon Xmas Parade....who's awesome idea was that?  I spend over that in Candy.

I'm in for a float.

Fix up Leigh's crawler hauler, and put the front tires of the Scrambler on the gooseneck.

Break out the portaband!

Also, the gooseneck isn't usually counted in trailer length.

Psst!

It'll be on a trailer...  Nobody has to know it doesn't run.

Have we given any consideration to scrapping the Brandon parade and getting in another one in which we could actually decorate and drive our Jeeps in?

Madison does one as well.  I know they do a lot of classic cars and hot rods.

Looks like I'll be moving to Madison by Christmas. Don't know if I'll be in by Dec 5th, but I'm interested.

Vicksburg and Clinton also have classics and hot rods. I don't know what Brandon is trying to accomplish by changing their format but it sounds like they are trying to make it suck. I told a guy that works with me about this and he agreed that it's gonna be a really crappy parade if everything in it is just a float with a sign.

I vote for a change of venue.  Madison, Ridgeland, Florence, Richland, Flowood, Pearl, VBurg (I think this could possibly bring in new members from the area)

Clinton has a great parade every year. Kelly and I participated one year with our golf cart and small trailer behind it. There may have been a fee to get in it though. I surely got my money's worth of fun out of it. It's as big, if not bigger than Brandon's.

I didn't like Madison's because it's on a Saturday morning so you can forget about lights and such. I like the night parades since they are so much nicer. I don't like the idea of one float for all. I think most like to be a real participant and drive their own. I know I do!

I agree. We could be any old club  and ride on a float. We are a Jeep club and prefer to show off our Jeeps.

^^^^ This! ;D

If this idea is to get others interested, you have to show the camaraderie and the fun in owning a Jeep and doing things with other Jeep owners, not sitting on a float like the cub scout troop #364.

Do you have any information on the Clinton parade?

I'm trying to find some info on the Vicksburg parade. I sent an email requesting information about it yesterday but I have gotten a reply.

I have emailed and left a message for the person in charge of the Brandon parade to see if there could be any fee concessions made for the club. I'll let yall know as soon as I hear from her.
